Representing the snail farming industry in Australia, Sonya Begg participated in planning workshops for new and emerging rural industries in Australia. Some of the critical success factors discussed at the forum that applied to snail farming included the importance of selective breeding and genetics. Discussions focused on how production methods impact on quality, improve production efficiencies and sustainability and the importance of development of grading systems and standards. Understanding competiveness by recognising consumer needs, market analysis and truth in labelling were just a few of the subjects discussed at the forum. |
